A former Cowboy returning for second stint?

10:25 a.m.While the Cowboys have made five external additions in free agency up to this point, their sixth could be a homecoming.

According to reports, the Cowboys have agreed to terms to bring back OLB Tyrus Wheat.

Wheat, 26, returns to Dallas after signing with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2023. In two seasons with the Cowboys, Wheat played in 20 games and recorded 17 tackles and half a sack.

Last season for the Lions, Wheat played in 15 games, posting career highs in tackles (15) and sacks (1.5) as well as adding a forced fumble and pass breakup.

More movement to create cap space?

7:30 a.m.As the new NFL league year gets set to begin at 3:00 p.m. CT on Wednesday, the Cowboys are continuing to work their space in the salary cap.

According to reports, Dallas has restructured WR Jonathan Mingo's contract heading into the 2026 season.

Mingo is heading into the final year of his rookie deal, and has spent the last year and a half with the Cowboys. In 14 games played, Mingo has caught six passes for 71 yards.

At the trade deadline in 2025, the Cowboys traded a fourth-round pick to the Panthers for Mingo and a seventh-round pick.
