Roster Move: Bears land free agent DE DeMarcus Walker

The Bears on Wednesday agreed to terms with defensive end DeMarcus Walker on a three-year contract, pending a physical.

Walker, 28, has six years of NFL experience, most recently playing for the Titans in 2022. The Florida State product was drafted by the Broncos in the second round of the 2017 draft and spent his first four NFL seasons in Denver. In April 2021, he signed with the Texans as a free agent before joining Tennessee in May 2022.

Last season with the Titans, Walker experienced a breakout year, recording several career highs with 32 tackles, 16 quarterback hits, 10 tackles for loss and 7.0 sacks. He also had back-to-back seasons with 30-plus quarterback pressures, racking up 32 in Tennessee.

Walker has appeared in 66 games over his six-year career with 13 starts, compiling 114 tackles, 39 quarterback hits, 24 tackles-for-loss, 19.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

With the Texans in 2021, Walker notched 30 quarterback pressures for the first time in his career while adding 31 tackles, four tackles-for-loss, 16 quarterback hits and two sacks.

In Walker's first two NFL seasons he played in 13 games without a start and recorded 11 tackles and two sacks. His production improved the following two years when he totaled 23 appearances with five starts and tallied 40 tackles and 8.5 sacks.

Walker put together an impressive college career at Florida State, earning consensus All-American honors and ACC Defensive Player of the Year in his senior season. In four years, Walker started 40 of the 52 games he appeared in while totaling 182 tackles, 28.5 sacks, 45 tackles-for-loss and eight forced fumbles.
